What is Shuri-Ryu Karate

Picture of Grandmaster Trias

Shuri-ryu was first brought to the United States in 1946 by Grandmaster Robert A. Trias.  Before that, its lineage stretched back to Taishi Daruma, the Bodhidharma, in the fifth century.

It has lasted all these years because it provides mental, physical, and spiritual strength to its practitioners through physical training, breath control, and meditation.

Based on the movements of five animals, it is a complete system, and will provide novice and expert alike with a well-rounded foundation in the martial arts.

I think Mark and Anna are gifted teachers.  It's apparent that they love Karate and love teaching.   Both have contributed much to the personal growth of my son and myself.  Thanks!

My children and I have been studying for four years at Mountain Eagle Karate Academy.  I am glad that I tried karate, because I have become stronger and more confident as a result. Renshi Mark, Sensei Anna, and the other instructors always maintain a safe and encouraging atmosphere, while expecting everyone to give their best effort.
